Types of Soil to Plant Seeds In

There are many types of soil to plant seeds in, and different plants will do better in different soils.  Learn a little more about types of soil to plant seeds in here.

Clay, Heavy Soil

This soil is 20\% sand, 20\% silt, and 60\% clay; if you squish this wet soil in yhour hand it will squish through your fingers.

Sandy

This soil is 60\% sand, 20\% clay, and 20\% silt; when moist it will crumble and fall apart when you squeeze it.

Loam

This is the ideal type of soil to plant seeds in.  If you squeeze a handful of this wet soil, you will end up with a rough, crumbly ball.
